My work has always been portraiture based and more recently it intersects the categorisation of art and craft. Throughout my work I choose to do portraits of people who fascinate me not only on an aesthetic level but who are also of importance to me.

Exploring characteristics and any redeeming features that could characterise a sitter and fragmentation also interests me.

I have been using printmaking and the craft of cutting and manipulating prints to redefine facial contours. I start by using a particular type of print as a base print, lino for example and then I layer prints on top. By cutting away and adding sections as a form of drawing it enables me to produce a large portrait assembled from a series of segmented isolated images that gradually build a face. This allows the portrait to adopt a 2d and 3d quality.
